A lot of standalone DVD-players has a problem with playing DivX/Xvid with a packed bitstream, for that reason, MPEG4Watcher was created. When I set some files to download in the morning, I want to watch them when I get home. I don't want to waste a cd/dvd trying to watch it on my standalone DVD-player just to find out that it contains a packed bitstream.
MPEG4Watcher sits in the systemtray and periodically checks a folder for DivX/Xvid-files.
When an DivX/XviD is found, MPEG4Watcher checks if the file contains a packed bitstream,
if it does, it gets unpacked to another directory. This improves the chances that you can watch it on your DVD-player.
Some players have a problem with the FourCC-tag in DivX/XviD-file, for that there's the FourCC Changer included in MPEG4Watcher.No re-encoding is done, it's only the FourCC-identifier that is changed, this can fool the player into thinking it's a different type of file.
